Shashank Subramanyam + Prattyush Banerjee

Southbank Centre, Queen Elizabeth Hall, SE1 8XX , [Venue Details]

A double bill of Indian classical music starring master flautist Shashank Subramanyam and sarod virtuoso Prattyush Banerjee.

Friday,
27 Mar 2026
@7.30pm

Subramanyam opens the evening. Performing music in the Carnatic tradition, he has captivated audiences across the globe. With tones that shimmer with emotion and depth, he transforms the humble bamboo flute – an ancient, organic instrument – into a voice that sings to the soul.

After the interval, Prattyush Banerjee takes the stage.

From his spellbinding Coke Studio performances to acclaimed Bollywood scores such as Piku and Madras Café, Banerjee is celebrated for fearlessly bridging traditional Indian classical music with contemporary soundscapes.

Along with performing and composing, Banerjee has created an electric version of the sarod, called the jyotidhwani – part of his mission to have the sarod ‘speak many languages’ while staying rooted in its classical lineage.

This evening, he is joined by Sukhvinder ‘Pinky’ Singh on tabla. A powerhouse percussionist, Pinky’s mix of spontaneity, finesse, and sheer power have made him one of the most in-demand accompanists.

Both Subramanyam and Banerjee are accompanied by Parupalli S Phalgun on mridangam and Giuliano Modarelli on guitar.

Presented by Asian Arts Agency and the Southbank Centre.
